Treat yo'self

For my birthday, my brother and SIL took me to go see Aziz Ansari.   Aziz (we're on first name basis me and Aziz) plays Tom Haverford on Parks & Rec.  And I know that he really isn't Tom Haverford, but Tom is my favorite character on Parks & Rec so I was really excited to go see him.  He was really funny and the show was great.  I can't really of a better way to talk about the show, sorry it sounded so lame but trust me, a good time was had by all.

Before I tell you this part, you should know that I love pizza. I LOVE it.  My philosophy on pizza is that when it's good, it's amazing but even when it's bad, it's still ok.  So when we heard that a Cici's pizza opened in Syracuse, my SIL and I made a couple of comments that we should go.  In case you don't know, Cici's pizza is an all you can eat pizza buffet.  It should go without saying that our expectations for this pizza were pretty low.  I mean, c'mon, $6 all you can eat pizza??  However, I was not disappointed.  Or maybe I was disappointed.  Not sure which one I should say.  Basically, the pizza was not the best I've had, but it was far from the worst.  My brother is super adventurous with his pizza, so he got cheese and pepperoni.  My SIL and I had mac & cheese pizza, bar b q pork pizza, spinach alfredo pizza, buffalo chicken pizza.  They were pretty tasty.  So I don't really feel the need to go back to Cici's but I am so glad we went.

Where have I been

So much has happened since I last wrote a real post:

* I saw Aziz Ansari's stand up in Syracuse
* I had an interesting "restaurant" experience
* I house sat for work
* I watched a lot of movies
* I have an interview for my practicum and it's not here.  It's at a youth and adolescent clinic.
* This semester is just about over; but I only have a couple of weeks off until my summer session starts.

I'll elaborate on some of this stuff throughout the week and this weekend.

Super embarrassing

I have been obsessed with the most horrible song ever!  It's not a good song.  Not good at all.  But whenever I hear it, I turn it up really loud and sing my little tone deaf heart out. I just watched the video for it on YouTube and, I'm not gonna lie, the video is worse than the song.   I have yet to download it yet, but I'm pretty sure it's in my future.

And now for your listening and viewing pleasure, my current embarrassing music obsession

It's like ESPN 8 The Ocho- I just can't get enough

Do you have any embarrassing songs in your iPod?

Promises, promises

Ok so the other day I promised to write about the blog swap.  I even crossed my heart.  Alas, I let you down.  Better late than never, right??

Ok so last month I found out that Katie from J&K was doing a Blog Swap.  So naturally I wanted to get in on this.  I was paired up with Julie over at The Smitten Mintons.  Do you know how hard it is to shop for someone you've never met??  Pretty hard.  But Julie did such a great job!

Please don't mind my amazing photography :)

She sent two little boxes of candy.  She didn't know this, but I love any combo of PB&Chocolate.  Yum!  There was also cute, springy sticky notes and a really pretty mint green nail polish.  I'm really excited, I think it will look so good on my toes once I'm tan.  I got a blue shower poof.  That yellow/brown thing is a cute beaded bracelet.  That scarf is so pretty.  I may or may not have planned my outfit around that scarf the day after I got it.  And when I say "may or may not have," I mean I totally I did.  It has flowers on it and they kinda look water color-y.  I got two compliments specifically on my scarf.  So yay you, Julie!  Great job buying for a complete stranger.

Here's a funny thought I had and it may or may not be true.  But I got Julie mostly pink things, her back blog's background is pink.  I have no idea if she even likes pink, but I figured pink is spring-y even if she didn't like it.  She got my blue things; but blue is my favorite color.  So again, yay Julie!

If you want to read about the cards I got from the Love & Envelops Club go here.

******

Totally unrelated to anything (but that's how I roll)

I got an iPhone!!  I'm part of technology finally!  So any suggestions for apps??  Do any of you play Draw Something?  Instagram??

wow

Ok, so I have a bunch to write about; but it's not gonna happen right now.  I just finished my last paper of the semester.  And, oops, I didn't even start it until tonight.  So I couldn't take the time to tell you about my cards from the Love & Envelops Club or my gift from the Blog Swap!  I don't even feel like looking up stuff to link to right now.  So, sorry girls that deserve links.  I'm lazy and my brain is mush.

More tomorrow I promise.  Cross my heart and everything!

Jessica watches another movie

The boys and I watched Rango today.  I can't even say that we "watched" it because both boys decided they would rather eat lunch then finish the movie.  The boys love to watch TV more than anything else in the world, so I hope this tells you how this review is going to go.
imdb

First off this movie mainly consisted of adult humor, but not Shrek-ish adult humor. I really don't think the boys really got what was going on.  I had to keep asking them questions to see if they knew:  "where is he?"  "what is he doing?" "Why is he doing that?"  And they (the movie, not the boys) said Hell a couple of times.  Not cool in a movie for kids.  But I guess it is PG and not G, so I should have been prepared.

Take what you will from this.  It might be a good movie, just not for young kids.

Nothing says Birthday Weekend....

...like being sick.

Well Friday was my birthday and I had dinner with one friend and drinks with another.  I had a total of 4 drinks all night.  So, you can imagine my horror when I woke up sick on Saturday morning.  There was no possible way I was that hungover from four drinks!  And when I mean I was sick. I mean I got sick.  I had so much work to do for school that I wanted to get done in the morning because in the afternoon I had my Godson's first birthday party.  After that, I was going to my parents' for my birthday dinner and for Easter.

Well I slept most of the morning and struggled my way through Godson's party.  I felt so bad, that my aunt (who rode with my parents) drove me and my car home.  I spent the evening on the couch and missed my dinner.  I did manage to wander into the kitchen to sit with my family while they ate the steak I had asked for for my birthday dinner (insert pathetic face here).  Well my "hangover" wasn't getting any better; in fact, it was getting worse.  I decided I should take my temperature to see if I was sick and not hungover.  Yep, that's right, I had a 101 fever.  I was a little happy that I was actually sick and not hungover.

the next day my parents suggested that I should skip Easter dinner at my aunt's so I wouldn't get anyone sick. One good thing about having to skip Easter dinner was that I got some school done and I watched four episodes of Freaks & Geeks. So that's a plus.

It turns out that the boys were sick all weekend too. So since we were all sick, I'm declaring today Movie Day.  We're watching Rango.

Hope y'all had a happier and healthier Easter than I did.

31 lessons

Here are 31 things I have learned in the past 31 years.  Some I have recently learned or learned to accept.  Some are things I've known for awhile but never put them in a list like this before. Some of them are works in progress.

1.  I will still get a nice tan even if I wear 20 SPF.  Sunscreen is not the same as sunblock.

2.  Some trends may look adorable.  On other people.  Younger people.  Who are not me.  And that's ok.

3.  I don't need to stay friends with people just because "we've always been friends."

4.  Some people I will *always* be friends with no matter how little we talk.

5.  High school never ends

6. I am not responsible for my feelings.  I am, however, responsible for my actions.

7.  Salads will *fill* me up for dinner

8.  Nothing beats being with the people who already know all my stories but can still talk about them like they are new

9.  It's not worth making someone like me.  They either will or they won't.

10.  Having a day/night to lay on the couch and watch TV/movies is not lazy, it's good self care.

11. My comfort outranks fashion most days of the week.  That's all right.

12.  There is nothing better than walking into a room and have a toddler coming running over with her arms outstretched.

13.  My mother is usually right.

14.  I can get sucked into Pinterest quicker than I get sucked into Wikipedia

15. A compliment can lift someones day.  If you like a stranger's shoes, her hair, her purse, her necklace, tell her; it could make all the difference

16.  The best sip of coffee is always the one that immediately follows a bite of something wonderfully sweet

17.  Privacy is underrated

18.  I will never be able to let pizza cool long enough, no matter how hard I try.  I am going to burn the roof of my mouth everytime

19.  Growing out my hair is a battle I will never win...

20.  But that's ok because I look cute with a pixie

21. It is quite possible to be civil to people you cannot stand to be around...

22.  But eye rolls are almost involuntary

23. I don't need a ton of TV channels

24. My anxiety has yet to kill me

25. Some people just don't get it and sometimes it's not worth trying to explain it

26.  It's all right to like love glitter

27.  Breakfast is totally the most important meal of the day

28.  I am capable of more than I think I am

29.  It's all about the process and not the "product"

30.  Comparing myself to others will get me absolutely nowhere and I'll end up feeling bad for no reason

31.  I will never know if I don't take the chance
